No business will be conducted at the Austin County Appraisal District office until further notice. Beginning, Monday, March 25, 2024, a temporary office will be in the basement of the courthouse, 1 E Main St, Bellville, Texas. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm. If you can be assisted by phone call (979)865-9124 or by email at austincad@gmail.com. We do apologize for the inconvenience and watch for updates to office access. 

Please be aware, there is NO CHARGE to file a homestead exemption application with the appraisal district. Homestead applications are available: on this website on the forms page, at the Austin County Appraisal District office located at 906 E. Amelia St. Bellville, TX 77418, or the Texas Comptroller web site at https://comptroller.texas.gov (Enter Homestead Exemption in the search box.).   Please contact our office at 979-865-9124 if you have any questions concerning this matter.

ACAD is receiving forms, applications, and protest documents. Fillable forms are available online. Documents can be mailed to 906 E Amelia St. Bellville, TX 77418 or submitted to austincad@gmail.com. In some cases, applications can be submitted online using ACAD’s “online” services.  If you must bring something to the appraisal district, a drop-box is located to the right of the front door. Please include your account number and contact information with the information provided.

News Release  – Notices of Appraised Value

Austin County Appraisal District is required by Texas Property Tax Code Section 25.19 to deliver a notice of appraised value to property owners if:

  • the appraised value of the property increased by more than $1000 from the preceding year;
  • the appraised value of the property is greater than the value rendered by the property owner;
  • the property was not on the appraisal roll in the preceding year; or
  • an exemption or partial exemption approved in the preceding year was canceled or

The notice indicates the property status as of January 1, 2024. Austin County Appraisal District has not received correspondence from state officials authorizing any deviation from the Texas Property Tax Code regarding matters subject to Section 25.19.

 

Usual Deadline

Not later than May 15 (or 30 days after a notice of appraised value was mailed to you, whichever is later).

Welcome to Austin County Appraisal District

It is the mission of the Austin County Appraisal District to discover, list, and appraise all property within the boundaries of the District as accurately as possible in order to estimate a fair and equitable market value.  The District will provide a well-managed office that will serve the public giving the same consideration, information, and assistance to each customer, as well as, provide up-to-date and accurate records to the taxing authorities.

The District will administer the laws under the Texas Property Tax Code and operate under the standards of:

 

  • The Property Tax Assistance Division of the Texas State Comptroller’s Office
  • The International Association of Assessing Officers
  • The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices
